Foodie Feast

YWCA of Charleston will host Foodie Feast 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday at Paterno’s at the Park. The meal will feature unique comfort food dishes by local chefs, and raise money for the YWCA Sojourner’s Shelter for Homeless Women & Families.

The menu will include butternut squash lasagna, turkey sliders with white cheddar and cranberry ketchup, buttermilk biscuits with pumpkin butter, vegetable frittatas, mixed greens with candied pecans, apples and cranberry buttermilk dressing, wellingtons and turporken — chicken, turkey and bacon wrapped in a butterflied pork tenderloin.

Cost is $50 per person ages 21 and up and $25 for ages 11 to 20.

Polka and pierogies

Mountaineer Montessori School will present a Polish Dinner from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at St. Matthews Episcopal Church, located at 36 Norwood Road. The menu includes pierogies, Polish chicken soup, kielbasa with Polish condiments, baby potatoes with dill, roasted carrots, dessert and Polish punch.

The evening will also feature polka music and presentations on Poland by sixth grade students who will represent the country at the 2019 Montessori Model United Nations in New York in March. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children. Proceeds will benefit the MMS Model UN Program. Reservations are necessary and seating is limited. Instant Pot class

The Cross Lanes public library will host a class on the basics of using an Instant Pot or other multi-cooker at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The class is free and will cover several recipes. Samples will be provided. The library is located at 5449 Big Tyler Road, in Cross Lanes.

Pizza beer pairing

The Secret Santa Foundation of West Virginia will host a pizza beer pairing fundraiser from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday at the Holiday Inn Charleston West, located at 400 Second Ave., in South Charleston. Two options for the fundraiser are available. Cost is $25 for six 4-ounce pours and six slices of pizza, or $10 for soft drinks and six slices of pizza.

The fundraiser is sponsored by New Belgium Brewing, Parkersburg Brewing, Capitol Beverage and Holiday Inn South Charleston. All proceeds will be used to shop for needy children for Christmas. Visit wvsecretsanta.org for more information and to purchase tickets.
