Slimey or spiny: Children visit with exotic animals | Local News

ROCKPORT — Children involved in Rockport Public Library’s Summer Reading Program went on an animal adventure Tuesday.

The library wrapped up its Summer Reading Program with a visit from some very special friends from Animal Adventures Family Zoo and Rescue Center, based in Bolton.

Children were invited to meet an array of exotic animals up close and hear interesting stories and information about them. Controlled petting and touching was allowed.

Many of the animals the center takes are no longer able to be kept by their current owners. The animals that come into the facility are either kept at Animal Adventures and used for educational programs, or are placed at other animal facilities. Animal Adventures delivers thousands of educational programs throughout New England each year.
